Rubbish removal in Great Barr
B42, B43 and B44. Semis with driveways, detached garages that have not seen a car since the nineties, and a lot of downsizing. Good access, big volumes.

Garage country
Great Barr, Kingstanding and Hamstead are dominated by interwar and post war semis, and almost all of them came with a driveway and a detached garage at the end of it. Two generations later, a very large proportion of those garages have not held a car since the nineties and instead hold everything that would not fit in the loft.
Clearing them out is the job we are called for most in this part of the city, and it is one of the easier ones from our side because the access is genuinely good. Van on the driveway, garage door open, straight in and out. That efficiency is reflected in the price.
What comes out of a Great Barr garage
- Old garden machinery, mowers, strimmers and the fuel cans that go with them
- Bikes, including several nobody has ridden this decade
- Tools, workbenches and shelving
- Tyres, car parts and the remains of a project car
- Garden furniture, parasols and barbecues
- Paint tins and half used chemicals
- Boxes of things that came out of a loft twenty years ago and went straight in
Worth flagging now: we cannot take paint tins, oils, fuel cans or chemicals. Those need a different disposal route. Set them aside and we will take everything else, and tell you where the rest goes.
Garage roofs round here need checking
A great many of the detached garages in Great Barr, Kingstanding and Hamstead were built between the 1950s and 1970s with corrugated cement roof sheets. A significant number of those contain asbestos.
Left alone and intact they are not a danger. Smashed up with a hammer they very much are, and disposing of them as general waste is illegal.
We will clear the entire contents of the garage. We will not take the roof sheets, and neither will any legitimate carrier. Ring us and we will tell you honestly what we think we are looking at.
Downsizing, and part clearances
A lot of what we do here is for people moving from a family semi into a bungalow or an apartment. Those are almost always part clearances rather than full ones, because the whole point is that some of it is coming with you.
That suits us fine. You point at what is going, we take that and only that. If you want a hand shifting the keepers to the new place as well, that is a man and van job and we can do both on the same visit.
What it costs
- Garage or shed clearance, from £150
- Half van load, about a builders skip, from £200
- Full Luton load, from £360
- Part house clearance, priced on what is actually going
What we do here
- Full and part house clearances, including probate and end of tenancy
- Garage, loft, shed and cellar clearances
- Single items such as sofas, mattresses and fridges
- Garden and green waste, including sheds and old decking
- Builders waste and rubble from strip outs and renovations
- Fly tipping clearance from driveways, alleyways and shared spaces
- Man and van for small moves and storage runs

Great Barr questions
Which areas does this cover?
Great Barr, Hamstead, Perry Barr, Kingstanding, Newton and out towards Streetly and Barr Beacon. B42, B43 and B44.
Most houses here have a detached garage. Do you clear those?
It is probably the single most common job we do in this part of the city. Interwar and post war semis round here nearly all came with a detached garage, and a large proportion of them have not held a car in twenty years. We clear them out and sweep the floor.
My garage roof might be asbestos. Will you still clear it?
We will clear everything inside it, yes. We will not touch the roof sheets. A lot of the garages round Great Barr and Kingstanding were built between the 1950s and the 1970s with corrugated cement sheet roofs, and many of those contain asbestos. Intact they are not dangerous. Broken up they are, and it is illegal to dispose of them as general waste. Ring us and we will tell you what we are looking at and who handles that part.
We are downsizing. Can you clear part of the house rather than all of it?
Yes, and most of our work here is exactly that. You point at what is going, we take that and nothing else. Part clearances are very common with downsizing because the whole point is that some of it is coming with you.
Do you take garden waste and old sheds?
Yes. The gardens round here tend to be wide with plenty of room for a shed, a greenhouse and a good deal of accumulated garden equipment. We dismantle and remove all of it including the concrete base if there is one.
