Prices and load sizes

Real starting prices, not vague ranges. We price by what actually goes in the van, we tell you the number before we start, and that is the number you pay.

Van load sizes

Everyone measures rubbish differently, which is why quotes are impossible to compare. Here is the same thing said four ways, with a starting price against each, so you can work out roughly where you sit before you even ring.

LoadRoughlySame asTypical jobPrice
Single item1 itemOne sofa or mattressKerbside collectionfrom£35
Minimum load1 to 2 yd³Up to 10 bin bagsA small clear outfrom£60
Quarter load4 yd³35 bin bags, or a midi skipOne small bedroomfrom£120
Half load8 yd³70 bin bags, or a large builders skipA single garagefrom£200
Three quarter load14 yd³Two builders skipsA one bedroom flatfrom£280
Full Luton load20 yd³Three builders skipsA double garage, or a two room clearancefrom£360

What every price includes

Labour, all the carrying, loading, transport, transfer station fees and your waste transfer note. No VAT on top and no disposal charge bolted on at the end. There is no charge for us coming out to look, either.

Single items

Collected from wherever it is sitting, including upstairs. Kerbside is quickest and cheapest, so say where it is when you ask.

ItemNotesPrice
SofaTwo or three seaterBroken down on site if it will not fit through the doorfrom£45
Corner or recliner sofaHeavier and takes up more of the van because of the mechanismfrom£65
MattressSingle, double or kingBanned from several disposal routes, so it carries its own chargefrom£35
Fridge or freezerDegassed at a licensed facility under WEEE rulesfrom£45
American fridge freezerTwo person lift and a higher disposal chargefrom£70
Washing machine, cooker or dishwasherHeavy, but no special disposal route neededfrom£40
Wardrobe or chest of drawersFlat pack usually has to be broken down to get it outfrom£40
TV, monitor or small electricalsCovered by WEEE, recycled rather than landfilledfrom£25
CarpetPer roomUnderlay and gripper includedfrom£30

Having two or three items collected together is always cheaper than booking them one at a time, because the van only makes one run.

How that compares

Three ways of getting a sofa and a load of household rubbish out of your house, priced honestly.

OptionWhat it actually involvesCost
Council bulky collectionUp to 10 items, kerbside only, you carry it out. Currently paused because of the strike.£49.50
Builders skipPermit if it goes on the road, days of waiting, and you load every item yourselfaround £250
Us, half loadWe carry it out from inside, load it, sweep up and go. Often the same dayfrom£200

The council is genuinely the cheapest option when it is running. It is not running. Here is what that means for you.

What changes the price

  1. Volume. How much of the van it fills. The main one for most jobs.
  2. Weight. Rubble, soil, concrete and tiles are charged by the tonne at the transfer station, so they price separately from bulky light waste.
  3. Access. Kerbside is quickest. Third floor with no lift is not.
  4. Special handling. Fridges and freezers need degassing. Mattresses and tyres carry their own disposal charges.

We factor all four in before we quote, which is why the number we give you is the number you pay.

Questions

Pricing questions

Are these prices fixed, or will they go up on the day?

They are starting prices, and the quote we give you before we arrive is fixed. Once you have sent a photo we come back with one number for your job and that is what you pay. If what we turn up to is genuinely bigger than the photo showed, we tell you before we load anything and you decide. Nothing gets added afterwards.

What makes a job cost more than the starting price?

Weight, access and special handling. A van of hedge cuttings and a van of broken concrete take up the same space and cost completely different amounts to tip. A sofa on the driveway is a different job to the same sofa in a third floor flat with no lift.

Does the price include the tip fees?

Yes. Labour, all the carrying, loading, transport, transfer station fees and your waste transfer note are all in the number. There is no separate disposal charge at the end.

Do you charge VAT on top?

No. The price we quote you is the price you pay.

Why is a fridge more than a wardrobe when it is smaller?

Because fridges, freezers and air conditioning units contain refrigerant gas and have to be degassed at a licensed facility under the WEEE regulations. That facility charges per unit. It is a real cost and we would rather show it than bury it in the total.

How do I get an accurate quote fastest?

A photo, a postcode, and one line about access. Photo tells us volume, postcode tells us the run, access tells us how long the carrying takes. Most quotes go back within the hour.

Want your actual number?
